What cookies are
Cookies are small text files a website stores in your browser. Some are needed for the site to work at all, such as remembering what is in your basket. Others tell us how the site is being used so we can improve it.
The cookies this site uses
Necessary for the site to work
These are set by WooCommerce, the shopping system this site runs on, and by Stripe, which processes payments. They keep your basket and your session together while you order, and they help detect fraudulent payments. The site cannot take an order without them.
- woocommerce_cart_hash and woocommerce_items_in_cart – remember what you have put in your basket. Removed when you close your browser.
- wp_woocommerce_session_* – links your browser to your basket and order details while you shop. Lasts two days.
- Stripe cookies – set only when you reach the payment step, to process the payment and check it for fraud.
Understanding how the site is used
- _ga and _ga_RKTZQR9Q08 – Google Analytics. These tell us things like which pages are visited and how people arrive, in aggregate. They do not tell us who you are. They last up to two years.
Working out where visitors came from
- sbjs_current, sbjs_first, sbjs_session, sbjs_udata, sbjs_migrations, sbjs_current_add, sbjs_first_add – set by WooCommerce to record which site or search you arrived from, so an order can be attributed to it. Most last only for your visit.
Other companies whose services load on this site
These may set their own cookies or receive your IP address as part of loading:
- Google – Analytics, Tag Manager and Google Fonts.
- Stripe – payment processing, at checkout.
- Mailchimp – email, where you have signed up.
- jsDelivr – a content delivery network used to load parts of the site quickly.
Controlling cookies
You can block or delete cookies in your browser settings, and every major browser lets you do this. Blocking the necessary ones will stop the basket and checkout working, so you will not be able to place an order.
